Personalized Care for Cosmetic and Reconstructive Concerns
Choosing facial surgery starts with understanding what you want to change and what treatment can realistically accomplish. Dr. Joseph Shvidler listens to each patient’s concerns and develops an individualized plan that respects their facial structure and goals.
His areas of expertise include:
- Rhinoplasty: Surgery to reshape the nose and improve facial balance.
- Facelift and neck contouring: Procedures that address age-related changes in the lower face and neck.
- Eyelid surgery: Treatment for concerns involving the upper or lower eyelids.
- Facial reconstruction: Surgery for conditions related to trauma, skin cancer treatment, or congenital differences.
His background in both facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology allows him to evaluate cosmetic concerns alongside the structural and functional issues that may influence treatment.
Fellowship Training and Military Surgical Experience
After completing his residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center, Dr. Shvidler pursued a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Washington.
He subsequently returned to active military duty at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and served as Section Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma. In this role, he performed complex reconstructive procedures for service members, military families, and retirees.
Dr. Shvidler also served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, helping train medical students and future ear, nose, and throat surgeons. After more than 12 years of military service, he transitioned to civilian practice in the Puget Sound region.
